Based on the observations of the naturalists and sportsmen who have contributed to the journal of the Bombay Natural History Society for over a century, the book describes and illustrates the habitat, characteristics, distribution, and other details of twenty-three different types of mammal. The comprehensive illustrations include 28 full colour plates depicting 141 species, by the distinguishedartist M. Paul Barruel.
